It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Emma Katz, a cherished member of the Toronto community whose kindness, compassion, and quiet leadership touched countless lives. As family, friends, and the wider Toronto, Ontario community mourn this loss, Emma’s memory continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Emma Katz was a devoted camper and staff member who embodied the true spirit of Toronto. She found joy in life’s simplest moments—gentle conversations, shared laughter, and meaningful connections. Emma spent countless hours with Colour campers, braiding hair, creating beadwork, offering encouragement, and ensuring every child felt valued and included. Her patience, warmth, and genuine care made a lasting impact on generations of campers.
Emma is lovingly remembered by her family, friends, fellow campers, colleagues, and the extended Walden camp family. Her remarkable ability to make others feel seen and heard created bonds that will endure for years to come.
To honor her memory, a special bench and Little Library have been established in the Colour Unit at Walden. This peaceful space reflects Emma’s love for connection, reflection, learning, and quiet joy—a lasting tribute to the light she brought into the lives of others.
